Write It Scared Group Coaching

Seasonal Group Coaching & Community for Fiction Writers

A small-group coaching experience for fiction writers who are done letting fear dictate their writing progress and want to write with greater clarity, confidence, and courage.

Write It Scared Group Coaching runs in seasons because writing—and life—have seasons.

You know writing a novel’s not a sprint. But it doesn’t have to be a grueling marathon either.

It's a creative journey with seasons of momentum, uncertainty, breakthroughs, frustration, and rest.

And it’s way more fun with friends!

That's why Write It Scared Group Coaching is intentionally seasonal

During our coaching seasons, we write together, solve story problems together, and support one another through the drafting and revision process. Between seasons, we step back, recharge, and return ready for the next stage of our stories.

The Promise

Finishing a novel requires more than craft knowledge.

It requires courage, consistency, and learning to trust yourself.

My goal isn't simply to help you write your book…

It's to help you learn how to solve story problems, trust your process and yourself, and become the kind of writer who finishes the novels they start.

Everything inside Write It Scared Group Coaching is designed around that goal.

"I don't know where I'd be had I not found Stacy and the Write It Scared community. Pursuing my writing with intention through group coaching has not only built my confidence as a writer, but helped me in so many other areas of my life as well. I look forward to our weekly sessions so much it hurts!"

—Kristi Colbert, Children's Author & Women's Fiction Writer

Who It's For:

Write It Scared Group Coaching is for fiction writers who are actively planning, drafting, or revising a novel and want expert guidance, accountability, and a supportive writing community.

You might be:

  • Planning your novel but feeling overwhelmed.

  • Stuck somewhere in the middle of your draft.

  • Facing a revision and unsure where to begin.

  • Constantly second-guessing your decisions.

  • Looking for accountability without judgment.

  • Hoping to find other writers who understand the highs and lows of writing a novel.

You don't need to have all the answers.

You simply need to be willing to keep showing up.

Appropriate for writers of all fiction genres. (This is not for memoir or non-fiction.)

A Small Community by Design

Enrollment is intentionally limited to just six writers each coaching season.

That isn't a marketing tactic.

It's how I ensure every writer receives meaningful coaching and individual attention.

A smaller group means:

  • You won't be lost in a crowd.

  • You'll receive personalized coaching time every month.

  • We'll become familiar with one another's stories.

  • You'll have plenty of room to ask questions and think aloud.

  • You'll learn from your own coaching and from listening to others work through their story challenges.

I believe some of the best learning happens when writers are coached alongside one another.

The Write It Scared Difference

Write It Scared Group Coaching isn't a critique group.

It isn't a self-paced course.

And it isn't a membership full of videos you'll never watch.

It's a coaching community built around the Write It Scared Novel Writing Guide™ and your personalized Seasonal Writing Compass, my framework for helping fiction writers understand what to work on, when to work on it, and why.

Instead of trying to fix everything at once, you'll learn how to identify your next best step, solve story problems with confidence, and build a writing process you can trust.

"Your craft modules helped me better understand both my story and my main character. Your coaching style is accessible and fosters a true sense of community. I looked forward to every group call."

What’s Included:

Every coaching season follows the same intentional rhythm.

Because writing a novel isn't just about putting words on the page.

It's about learning to navigate uncertainty, solve story problems, and keep showing up—even on the hard days when the path forward isn't clear.

Every part of this experience is designed to support both your manuscript and your growth as a writer.

🖊 Your Seasonal Writing Compass

Every coaching season begins before we ever meet live.

You'll complete a personalized Seasonal Writing Compass to help clarify:

  • Where you are in your novel

  • What you hope to accomplish this season

  • The biggest obstacles standing in your way

  • The mindset patterns and life constraints that tend to derail your progress

  • What success looks like for you

Your Seasonal Writing Compass helps me coach you, not just your manuscript. It gives me an understanding of where you are today, where you want to go, and how I can best support you throughout the season.

Because every writer, every season, and every novel is different.

🖊 The Write It Scared Novel Writing Guide™

Coaching doesn't end when our Zoom call does.

The Write It Scared Novel Writing Guide™ is your companion throughout the coaching season.

Part reference guide and part learning library, it brings together the videos, worksheets, webinars, templates, and practical resources we'll use throughout planning, drafting, and revision.

Rather than overwhelming you with endless craft advice, the Guide helps you understand what to work on, when to work on it, and why it matters at every stage of writing a novel.

Inside you'll find resources covering topics like:

  • Planning

  • Drafting

  • Story structure

  • Character development

  • Outlining (for plotters, pantsers, and everyone in between)

  • Revision strategy

  • Story diagnostics

  • Identifying what to fix first

  • Self-editing workflow

  • And more as the library continues to grow.

This isn't simply a collection of videos.

It's a practical resource you'll return to again and again throughout your writing journey.

🖊 3 Live Group Coaching Sessions Per Month

Our coaching calls are where stories get unstuck.

  • Before your scheduled Story Spotlight, you'll complete a brief Work-in-Progress Report (part of your Seasonal Compass) so our coaching time focuses on solving problems—not catching me up on your manuscript.

🖊 Monthly Office Hours

Need a sounding board between coaching calls?

Office Hours are an informal space to ask questions, brainstorm solutions, review pages, celebrate progress, or work through challenges as they arise.

Bring questions about:

  • Story structure

  • Revision

  • Brainstorming

  • Mindset

  • Publishing

  • Process

If it relates to writing your novel, we'll work through it together.

🖊 Community Write-In

  • Each session includes:

    • Writer wins and accountability

    • Monthly Story Spotlight coaching for each writer

    • Collaborative story problem-solving

    • Clear next steps so you always know what to work on next

  • A Note on Story Spotlights: Every writer receives a dedicated Story Spotlight each month—a focused coaching conversation where we'll work through the story problem or mindset issue that's keeping you stuck, identify your next best step, and create a clear plan for moving forward

Writing is easier when someone else is showing up, too.

Once each month we'll gather for a focused hour of writing.

No lessons.

No lectures.

No pressure.

Just protected writing time, accountability, and quiet encouragement.

I'll be writing right alongside you.

🖊 Community & Accountability

Between meetings, we'll stay connected inside our private Slack community.

Together we'll:

  • Set weekly writing goals.

  • Celebrate wins.

  • Ask questions.

  • Brainstorm story problems.

  • Encourage one another throughout the season.

Writing may be a solitary pursuit, but it doesn't have to be a lonely one.

🖊 Season Reflection & Celebration

Every coaching season ends intentionally.

We'll come together one final time to reflect on how far you've come, celebrate your effort and progress, recognize what you've learned, and identify your next steps.

Because effort and growth deserve to be acknowledged.

And momentum is easier to carry forward when you can see how far you've already come.

Everything inside this program is intentionally designed to help you keep moving forward—not just during our coaching sessions, but every time you sit down to write

"I've improved my craft, gained confidence, and developed tools I'll use for both writing and mindset. Watching both my story and myself grow alongside this community has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience."

Does This Feel Like the Right Fit?

If Write It Scared Group Coaching feels like the kind of support you've been looking for, I'd love to learn more about you, your novel, and your writing goals.

Because this is an intentionally small coaching community, I like to begin with a conversation.

It gives us both the opportunity to ask questions, talk about your novel, and decide whether this is the right next step for you.

If it is, wonderful.

If it isn't, that's okay too.

My goal is simply to help you find the support that's right for where you are in your writing journey.

I’d love to talk with you about joining the next cohort. Just complete the short interest form below, and we'll schedule a time to talk one-on-one.

REVIEWS FOR GROUP COACHING

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't know where I'd be had I not found Stacy and this WIS community. Pursuing my writing with intention through group coaching with Stacy has not only helped build my confidence in writing my stories, but it has also helped in so many other areas of my life as well. I look forward to our weekly sessions so much it hurts!

—Kristi Colbert, Children’s Author, Women’s Fiction Writer

“Stacy, I wanted to let you know how great it’s been to work with you the past few months. I really needed to find a “home base” where I could be inspired, challenged, and yet affirmed. You’ve done all of that. You’re truly a gifted coach. Your feedback is such a special house blend of assistance toward growth and affirmation of the individual…not all creativity is alike. I look forward to my continued growth and work with you.”

— Barb, Cozy Mystery Writer

“Dear Stacy, I'm writing to say how incredibly helpful your group coaching has been over the past few weeks. Your craft modules have enabled me to better understand both my story and my main character. Your coaching style is accessible and fosters a great sense of community. Overall it has been such a great experience. I have looked forward to our group call every week.”

— Emily, Rom/Com Writer

“I completed all the modules, just finished 12 today! I am happy to have worked through them. They've helped me get reacquainted and excited by this story again after all this time. I am now ready to start drafting my “as-is outline” and new scenes.”

-Mirah, Fall 2024 Cohort Member

“This course is, by far, the most useful forum I have come across in my quest to draft my first novel. From day one, Stacy has been encouraging, supportive, and has a wealth of knowledge on the subject of fiction writing. She fostered a cohesive group that allowed us to share our weekly "wins" and support each other through the more trying moments of a writer's life. Stacy has fully dedicated herself to this work and is by far the best writing coach I have worked with. Because of her, my first draft has moved closer to completion. I highly recommend this group.”

— Denise, Women’s Fiction Writer

“I am grateful to everyone in this group for their support, for showing up, for being open and honest, and for letting us learn from their personal wins and challenges. I am pleased with how much I have learned, how I have improved my craft skills, and how I have gained confidence and the tools to use for both writing and mindset! Stacy is always so patient, emphatic, helpful, creative, kind, and always knows when and what to advise, which exercise to propose, which book or movie to recommend. And of course, the best is deadlines and editorial feedback! I am deeply thankful and happy to be part of the group, to see how my story and characters are growing, how I grow with them together.”
