Holiday Cheer for Writers: Free Resources to Fuel Your Writing Journey

A bit of holiday cheer from one writer to another!

Do you know the main difference between a published writer and an unpublished writer?

Hint: it's not talent or education.

It's time and persistence.

To quote James Scott Bell from his book Plot & Structure, "There are legions of published novelists who went years and years without acceptance. They continued to write because that's what they were inside."

If you are reading this, that's what you are inside.

You are a writer.

So, as you wind down for Christmas and maybe take some time off over the holidays, I want you to hold that knowledge in your heart.

When you come back to your story, just keep at it and try to focus on what makes writing joyful for you, and try to let go of the outcomes you cannot control.

And feel free to borrow my motto: If you fail, it's okay to crawl under your desk and take a nap or have a good cry. But keep coming back because you love this work. You love writing and creating.

And that’s all that really matters.

That is my holiday toast to you!

Here are the top free resources from Write It Scared that you might have missed this year. I hope you find something that helps you move forward in your writing journey. Feel free to forward it to a writer who might help!
